La Tonya's estranged son Trey wants a second chance after his three strikes and Greg's daughter Madison wants... whatever - it's none or your business.
Lineage challenges stereotypes as it confronts issues of race, adoption, religion, heredity and the often mistaken or disappointed expectations we have of one another.

    He dies.
Fortunately, Payne's death greatly inflates the value of his work. Unfortunately, his estranged wife, Maggie, must sell it all to avoid bankruptcy. Just days before the auction, Maggie and her high-strung gallery manager, Richard, host a private showing. The guests of honor are influential newspaper maven Judith Fontaine; the fabulously rich real estate mogul Mick Fitzgerald; Trent, a gorgeous but dim-witted soap opera actor; Graciela, a streetwise cocktail waitress; and Emma, a humorless art critic.

To Maggie's delight, Mick Fitzgerald buys dozens of paintings. Not only will the deal rescue her financially, but Judith Fontaine is covering the story! The resulting publicity will put Maggie's gallery on the map! At this point, the only thing that could go wrong would be if Payne Showers were to walk through the door.

Then Payne Showers walks through the door.

Unit set. Approximate running time: 1 hour, 45 minutes.

Artifice is licensed by the Dramatic Publishing Company.

"Light, breezy, clever and fun... Anne Flanagan’s quirky script, wastes no time immersing its audience in the world of egotistical artists, conniving dealers and vengeful wealthy patrons. It’s the perfect setting for intrigue and a bit of misdirection comedy."

Bloody History: Three Ghosts of Elizabeth Bathory & Hungary Hearts. One act comprised of two short comedies about the Sixteenth century Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Bathory. Bathory, AKA the Blood Countess, allegedly tortured and murdered up to 600 girls, then bathed in their blood to maintain her own youth and beauty. Modern day scholars suggest the Bathory legend is pure fiction; trumped up by those coveting her land and wealth. Was Bathory history's most prolific serial killer or was she victim of a Royal conspiracy? Or both?

Part I, Three Ghosts of Elizabeth Bathory, depicts Bathory's ghost attempting to revamp her reputation by persuading apathetic high school senior Mina to rewrite a term paper. Part II, Hungary Hearts, joins Elizabeth and her paramour, Ironhead Steve, for a romantic dinner featuring a terrified maid, mysterious blood curdling screams, and several severed limbs. Y'know - the usual.
